- Method 1: Apply before shower
Pump a generous amount onto the palm of your hand and rub hands together. Then apply all over your body (avoiding the face) BEFORE showering. Let the oils cover your body and then take your shower as usual. After shower, make sure to moisturize within two minutes of towelling off so you add moisture back in before the skin seals up. Use your favourite body moisturizer or the same oil (small amount) you used before showering.
One of the most drying things that we do to ourselves is taking a hot shower as the outer layer of our skin (the epidermis) is made up of keratin, body oils will function to protect the keratin. The hot water temperature will soften the oil layer (applied before shower) until it melts and be washed away with the water. After showering, you’ll notice that your skin feels so much softer and happier.
- Method 2: Apply after shower or a bath
Get a medium amount of body oil of your choosing and apply on the body right after showering. Use it on sopping wet skin, so don’t towel off before or after applying. It might take a bit of getting used to (the greasiness and oily feel), but when you really think about it, what’s the point of towel-drying all the water on your skin only to put lotion on it? Why not just use that water and add the oil yourself? Leave it on your skin for a while and pat yourself dry.
