Every car needs some love. But most of the time, we tend to clean the outside of the car and forget about the interior. One way to keep your car’s interior clean is to use a car vacuum cleaner. Car vacuum cleaners are awesome little machines that are handy enough be brought around everywhere you go. You can get electrical vacuum cleaners or battery-operated ones. Let’s look at how you could accelerate the interior cleaning process with a car vacuum along with the technique of properly cleaning your car.
Things you will need:
- Soft bristle brush
- Microfibre towel
- Vacuum cleaner
- Degreasing agent/car fabric/leather soap
- Leather/rubber trim polish (optional)
Agitate the dirt
The first step to cleaning your car is to agitate the dust and grime. Use a brush – preferably a soft bristle brush to push out the dirt and grime stuck in the fabric or leather of your seats. Also, reach into the deep crevices of your car interior to brush out tiny dust and dirt particles. Brush the car seat rails, seatbelt buckles, between the gear lever and cup holders too.
Optional: Spray some degreaser onto the brush or directly on the surface you intend to clean.
Suck it up
Next, use your vacuum cleaner and get to work. Choose a nozzle that is thin and precise to get exactly where you want to go. Turn on the vacuum and do a once-over on the surface of the fabric and leather area. Be sure to cover every area of the car’s cockpit. Next, change to a larger-mouth nozzle and vacuum the carpet of the car. Do large vertical strokes, followed by horizontal strokes. Now remove the carpet or rubber mat from the bottom. Once out, give it a few hard smacks to get the dust out.
Bring out that shine
In many cases, you could repeat the above two steps a couple of times just to be sure to get all the dirt out. Now it’s time to polish. Of course, if you’re pressed for time, you can skip this step. Simply dusting and vacuuming the car’s interior will bring out a new, polished look. But occasionally you want some shine. Whip out your leather polish or rubber trim shine, dab a little on a clean microfibre towel and rub into the areas that you intend to shine. Use circular strokes to get the shine out. If you find the product is too greasy, you could do a once-over with a dry microfibre towel to wipe the excess away.
