In this year’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, the company announced that it will be using Intel Xeon W processors in its all-new iMac Pro computers with three core options -  8, 10, and 18. Starting at $4,999 (around HKD 39,075), the octa-core iMac Pro will also come with a 5K resolution Retina display, AMD Radeon RX Vega graphics, 32GB DDR4 memory, a 1TB SSD, and much more. While these features seem incredibly sufficient, the higher cores are expected to be way more powerful and more expensive too.

During its launch, Intel revealed that prices for the Intel Xeon W processors range from $294 (around HKD 2,298) for the basic, quad-core model and can go up to $1,440(approx. HKD 11,255) for the deca-core variant. The company has not disclosed the prices of the 14-core and 18-core SKUs yet, both of which should be very costly and could skyrocket iMac Pro’s price all the way up to as much as $10,000.

Intel is ready to unveil its incredibly powerful line of Xeon W processors in the market. Since they are 1.36 times faster than previous models, Xeon W processors are ideal for high-performance workstations that require heavy-duty processing power.

As soon as the product range is launched, Intel has yet to unveil when it will start shipping its Xeon W processor range line. However, they did advise that the 18-core variants will be launched by late 2017. That said, this launch date matches to the expected release date for the iMac Pro in December.

As for the iMac Pro’s other features and specs, it will come with a 27-inch 5K P3 display that can be configured up to 128GB of DDR4 ECC memory. It will also house an AMD Radeon Pro Vega GPUs and have a 10 GB network connectivity. As of writing, Apple hasn’t disclosed the release dates of this much-awaited top-of-the-line computer in Southeast Asian markets.
