Apple iPhone 5s Review - Stunning Looks and Powerful Internals

Where the iPhone 5 was a large change in the physical design of the iPhone, the iPhone 5S brings a large change in the operating system. The iPhone 5S is part of the seventh generation of iPhones, which is also the first time the iPhone lineup has two different iPhone released in a single generation: the iPhone 5S, and the mid-range iPhone 5C. The iPhone 5S shipped out with iOS 7. It also marked the first time that Apple includes a Touch ID fingerprint sensor onto the home button of an iPhone.

The iPhone 5S is often touted as one of the best, if not the best, smartphones during its time of release. Packing in the latest hardware that Apple has produced, the iPhone 5S performs incredibly well. It also closely resembles the previous iPhone 5 in design, but with a little extra to make it stand out from the crowd. With so many newer iPhone models available, now is the best time to purchase an iPhone 5S in HK as the price has dropped significantly but before you do, check out the following key features and highlights of the mobile.

Designing the iPhone 5S

The iPhone 5S mainly retains the iPhone 5's design, with the tall display that measures at 4 inches diagonally and the aluminium composite frame for better strength. The only differences between the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5S's design were the home button and colour finish. The iPhone 5S's home button now takes the shape of a flat laser-cut sapphire cover that is surrounded by a metallic ring; it does not curve inwards anymore and does not have the iconic square symbol inside of it. The home button also houses the phone's Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

Where the previous iPhones were available in either black or white, the iPhone 5S introduces a third colour finish: white with gold trim. This would amount to the iPhone 5S having three different colour finishes of space-grey, white with silver trim, and the white with gold trim. The gold trim is the result of an attempt to attract more Chinese customers as gold is seen as a sign of luxury.

Apple iOS 7 operating system

As did the iPhone 5S gain more color finishes, so did the iOS 7 operating system. The entire iOS operating system of this iPhone loses its slightly more formal looking user interface and instead replaces it with slightly more simplistic and more saturated colours. IOS 7 also introduces an extremely convenient pull up the quick-settings menu that lets the users toggle the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and even flashlight without having to go deep into the settings menu.
