HTC U12 Plus Hong Kong – All There is to Know about HTC’s New Flagship
In the last two years, HTC has scored well with the flagship devices it released, namely the U10 and U11. Now, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer is planning to leverage on the momentum with its upcoming flagship, the HTC U12 Plus. The flagship is scheduled to be released in Hong Kong around the end of June 2018. The HTC U12 Plus will sport a flurry of features including the newest processor, quad cameras, and a unique design with no physical buttons. Here is what we know so far about this upcoming flagship from HTC.
HTC U12 Plus Release Date and Price
As mentioned above, the Translucent Blue version of U12 Plus is expected available in stores around Hong Kong sometime around the end of June 2018 but the exact date remains unconfirmed. There is also no official pricing details but the phone is available for pre-order in the US for $799 which is a good estimate of how much the price will cost.
Build and Construction
Rumours and renders about the U12 Plus’ design had been circulating online for months prior to the official announcement and apparently, they were quite accurate. HTC has decided to stick with the Liquid Design that it introduced last year. The design adds subtle colour changes when light hits the glass rear, thus adding a glossy finish which improves the device’s overall aesthetic. Moreover, the phone will also come with IP68 dust and water resistance.
At the front, the U12 Plus has more screen real-estate compared to what its predecessors offered, thanks to thinner bezels surrounding the display. Surprisingly though, unlike most phones that were released recently, the U12 Plus will not have a notch at the top of the screen. The phone will have a 6-inch Super LCD display with a 2,880 x 1,440p resolution and a pixel density of 537ppi. This translates to vivid colours and sharp details which makes the phone suitable for gaming and other forms of media.
Under its hood, the HTC U12 Plus mobile phone is equipped with the latest chipset that Qualcomm has to offer – the Snapdragon 845. This powerful processor will be supported by 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage with microSD expansion available. With this combination of specs, this HTC phone should be able to take on everyday tasks without any slowdown in performance.
One of the main highlights of the HTC U12 Plus is its quad cameras which has a lot to offer to users. The two cameras at the rear, consisting of a 12MP f/1.75 lens which is paired with a 16MP f/2.6 telephoto lens. To improve the quality of the images taken, the cameras will be supported by phase detection and laser focus. At the front, two 8MP sensors will be responsible for taking selfies as well as activating the facial unlock system.
Ensuring that the phone can be used all-day long is a 3,500mAh battery pack. The U12 Plus will also have Quick Charge 3.0 technology which provides faster recharge times. The phone also supports Quick Charge 4.0 but this will require users to additionally purchase an appropriate adapter and cable.
