Here’s What to Expect from the HTC U12
The HTC U12 is predicted to be one of the best phones of 2018. Based on the rumors floating on the internet, the HTC U12 has a good chance of being a competitive device, standing up against flagships from Samsung, Google, Oneplus, and Apple. Here’s what we found out about the HTC U12 specs, release dates, and more.
HTC U12 Release Date and Price
While it isn’t sure whether HTC is going to name the device “HTC U12” or “HTC U12 Plus”, it does seem that the former is the better bet. However, a majority of rumours on the internet go with the “U12” instead of the “U12+”. As for the HTC U12 release date, the company hasn’t yet confirmed any specific dates but it’s expected to launch in May. This helps provide some space between big flagships like Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and Google’s Pixel 3.
Speculated HTC U12 Price
Based on the price of its previous iteration, the HTC U11, the HTC U12 might come with a nearly similar price tag. HTC U11’s starting price was $649, so most likely the U12 will be priced around $700 . This is just an educated guess, however, the closer we are to its expected release date, the more information we can find about the HTC U12 price.
According to a few unofficial images, the HTC U12 is going to be a large phone with a big display, without any striking design changes. In February, there were also some photos that appear to be HTC’s upcoming flagship phone at a trade show. The photos surfaced on a Taiwanese site – Sogi, with details covered by stickers, except for the display which appears to have an 18:9 aspect ratio and some bezels around the display. In March, seasoned leaker Evan Blass leaked some renders of the HTC U12, providing a peek of the fingerprint scanner and the dual camera setup on the back of the device.
The HTC U12 Specs
The rumor mill suggests that the U12 will be featuring a 6-inch display with LCD panel and QHD+ resolution (2880 x 1440 pixels). These figures are bigger than the ones in the HTC U11 but are on par with the HTC U11 Plus. The HTC U12 will sport an almost bezel-less screen which can be compared to most mid-range and high-end models.
When it comes to hardware, on the other hand, the HTC U12 is said to have an upgraded chipset, carrying the latest Snapdragon 845 on board similar to many premium phones this year. The chipset offers better performance and consumes less battery life. The HTC U12’s processor will be coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB internal storage which can be expanded with a micro SD card.
