The Galaxy S6 Edge is known for being the world’s first smartphone to feature curved displays, bringing with it an innovation in the smartphone industry. The smartphone combines innovative design and top performance with commendable battery life, making it an all-rounded phone.
With the S6 Edge, Samsung has managed to not just make a powerful handset but one that looks fantastic as well. The aluminium body, sweeping sides, and rounded metal frame gives the smartphone a delicate and petite look and feel that is not provided by other smartphones. Unlike the Note Edge that only has a curve on the right-hand side of the screen, the screen for the S6 Edge curves at both ends, enabling the phone to fit in your hands perfectly, providing a solid and comfortable grip.
The curves at the end of the screen are not only for aesthetic purposes, as they preview notifications, news, and other widgets so that you can get a quick glance without opening the apps.
The S6 Edge comes with a Super AMOLED display that makes it a cut above any device in the market right now. At 577ppi, the screen is sharp and provides accurate colour reproduction. The highlight of the screen though is that it can provide true black that provides a more engaging viewing experience compared to its immediate rivals.
Powerful Processors for Flawless Performance
The S6 Edge is equipped with an octa-core Exynos 7420 chipset with four cores running at 2.1GHz and another four running at 1.5GHz. The processor uses ARM’s big.LITTLE design to improve both performance and battery life of the device. Together with a Mali-T760MP8 GPU, the device handles all forms of multimedia without lagging or slowing down. As the Exynos 7420 uses a 14nm manufacturing process, it offers faster processing speeds and enables the phone to run on optimum temperatures even after prolonged gaming periods.
Surprisingly, Samsung decided to equip the S6 Edge with a 2,600mAh battery which is considered a small capacity for the phone of its calibre. However, the battery still manages to power the device effectively through the day, having about 40% of power left on low to moderate usage. The phone also has fast-charging capabilities, enabling you to charge the device to full capacity within a shorter time – providing 4 hours of usage with only 10 minutes of charge. The S6 Edge is also compatible with wireless chargers, supporting both the WPC (Qi) and PMA (Powermat) standards.
