At the recent Mobile World Congress 2018, Sony released important information about its two flagship devices – the Sony XZ2 and the Xperia XZ2 Compact. But they didn’t reveal any information regarding their third upcoming phone - the Sony Xperia XZ Pro. Sony fans in Hong Kong are wondering if the company will release a third phone or not. However, there are lots of rumors floating around the internet regarding the said device.
Since this upcoming Sony phone wasn't revealed at the MWC 2018, it is believed that the phone will be released later this year. It is rumoured to be unveiled at the IFA 2018 sometime in September thanks to Sony’s presence of the event. At last year’s IFA 2017, Sony Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact, and XA1 Plus were launched.
Since the company released the Sony Xperia Z, Sony has incorporated the OmniBalance design into its new device which they continued to do through the X series. Nonetheless, the designs of Sony Xperia phones have been changing but still maintain the same dimensions over the past few years, so the change doesn’t appear drastic. As seen in some of the latest Sony Xperia mobile phones, they come with a bezel-less display which the Xperia XZ Pro is likely to wield. It might also feature a 5.7-inch screen with a 4K OLED panel which is a first for the series. Dimension-wise, the Xperia XZ Pro is said to be smaller than the Xperia XZ Premium. Another thing fans can expect is that it won’t come with a 3.5-mm jack and a IP65/68 waterproofing protection.
Much like the Sony XZ2, it is expected that the XZ Pro will run the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip (or the Snapdragon 835) and will equip an Android 8.1 Oreo OS. It is also rumored to feature a 64GB internal storage, 6 GB of RAM, and a 3420 mAh battery according to the Chinese leaker, MyDrivers. However, these internal specs should be taken with a grain of salt since the leaked images that MyDrivers released are possibly made-up renders.
The Sony Xperia XZ Pro is said to feature an 18MP+12MP dual-lens cameras, something that you won’t find from the Sony Xperia XZ2. Furthermore, it would also have a 13MP front camera. Furthermore, this upcoming Sony phone is also rumoured to have better low-light performance and more features.
