Xiaomi may produce a lot of affordable smartphones, but almost none of them have a lack of features or properties that would otherwise make it a less premium. It does not matter whether it is the design or the core components of the smartphone, Xiaomi makes it a point not to disappoint when it comes to their smartphones.
The Mi4 features a stainless steel frame that is meticulously crafted in a 40-step process that takes 32 hours to complete. A stainless steel frame and aluminium-magnesium alloy mid-frame are both combined together to create a tough and sturdy structure for the smartphone to hold its components. Xiaomi is confident in saying that the process of creating the steel frame for their Mi4 flagship is probably the most sophisticated manufacturing process for smartphones.
Even on the rear cover Xiaomi spares no expense. The elegant textured back of the Xiaomi Mi4 is very comfortable to hold in the hand and provides a great grip for its users. The rear is made up of nine different layers of membranes that is put together – a world's first for a smartphone. Even with 9 layers, the rear cover is only 0.8 mm thin with tiny intricate lines at just 0.06 mm thin; it is also scratch and fingerprint-resistant to maintain its classy looks for a longer period of time.
Not only is the Mi4 beautiful on the outside, but on the inside resides an incredibly powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. It may be a slightly older Qualcomm model, but it is still very powerful and efficient compared to the lower end models. Accompanying the powerful processor is the Adreno 330 GPU to let you experience all of your favourite mobile games fluidly.
Instead of opting for a lower quality camera from relatively unknown OEMs or brands, Xiaomi has opted fro Son'ys very own 13 megapixel IMX 214 Exmor RS image sensor. It is a very powerful image sensor that captures great images even in low light, thanks to its 6-element lens which allows more light into the sensor. You know those beautiful "bokeh" shots commonly found only on DSLR cameras? The Xiaomi Mi4 can do that, no problem – its all thanks to its large f/1.8 aperture. It is truly a very capable smartphone camera.
