Emile Hirsch returns from his critically acclaimed role in Sean Penn's 2007 film Into The Wild

, where he is joined by a stunning lineup that includes John Goodman, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon, Matthew Fox, Yu Nan (Tuya's Marriage
), and Jung Ji Hoon (the sensational Korean singer/actor better known as Rain) making his highly publicized Hollywood film debut.
Eighteen-year-old Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) was born to be a racer. Racing was the one and only passion for young Speed who grew up watching his parents (John Goodman, Susan Sarandon) run a racecar business and idolizing his older brother Rex Racer (Scott Porter), the undisputed racing champion who tragically died in a deadly cross-country racing rally known as Casa Cristo. Recovering from the painful loss, Speed decides to carry on the legacy left behind by his late brother, quickly working his way up the ranks in his father's custom-made machine Mach 5. Spotting a profitable opportunity, sly corporate owner Mr. Royalton tries to strike a deal with Speed, but is flatly rejected. This is when Speed learns of the illegal riggings that predetermine the outcomes of the races - all in the hands of Royalton and other money-hungry moguls. Forming an alliance with his girlfriend (Christina Ricci), his mysterious rival Racer X (Matthew Fox), and fellow racer (Jung Ji Hoon), Speed enters the Casa Cristo race in an attempt to bring back integrity and honor to racing and to save his family's business from being destroyed by Royalton.
