HK$ 187.00
Wen Zhang, Jet Li and Michelle Chen team up to become an unlikely trio of crime fighters in Badges of Fury, the hilarious feature film debut by director Wang Zi Ming. In their third pairing, Li and Zhang play a pair of less-than-competent detectives out to solve a series of confounding murder cases, with Chen playing their frustrated boss. A retro love letter to Hong Kong action comedies from the 1980s and 1990s, Badges of Fury is packed with over-the-top action (including a bicycle chase through the streets of Hong Kong) and silly humor that often defies the laws of physics.

In the tradition of a Hong Kong commercial blockbuster, Badges of Fury is also filled with special cameos by big stars. See if you can catch appearances by Raymond Lam, Michael Tse, Huang Xiaoming, Tong Dawei, Wen Zhang's wife Ma Yili, Leung Ka Yan, Kevin Cheng, Alex Fong, Stephy Tang, Tian Liang, Lo Hoi Pang and many more. Action fans will also get to see Jet stretch his fighting muscles against fellow action stars Wu Jing, Bruce Leung and Colin Chou!

The Hong Kong police are baffled by a series of bizarre murders that leaves its victim dead with a smiling face. Angela (Michelle Chen) is charged with solving the case, but her subordinates are overzealous, troublemaking detective Wang Buer (Wen Zhang) and lazy veteran Huang Feihong (Jet Li). Together, they stumble from various clues and multiple suspects, including up-and-coming actress Jinshui and her seductress half-sister Yiyi. Are the two sisters the culprits behind the murders, or will Buer and Feihong discover more sinister villains lurking in the shadows?

Panorama A Simple Life (2011) (Blu-ray + Poster) (Hong Kong Version)
HK$ 427.00
Renowned Hong Kong director Ann Hui (Summer Snow) has perhaps made the crowning achievement of her marvelous career with A Simple Life, a crowd-pleasing human drama that quietly tugs at viewers' heartstrings with its restrained sentiments and delicately drawn characters. A solemn yet humorous exploration of seniority, the film tells a bittersweet story revolving around the lives of elderly maid Sister Tao and her master, played respectively by veteran actress Deanie Ip and superstar Andy Lau, whose past screen collaborations serve to inspire enormous chemistry between their characters. Their impeccable performances have earned numerous prestigious prizes for the film, including Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival, Best Director, Actor, and Actress at the Golden Horse Awards, and the rare feat of the Big Five (Best Film, Director, Screenplay, Actor, and Actress) at the Hong Kong Film Awards.

Based on the true story of producer Roger Lee, A Simple Life also features a number of famous stars and filmmakers in supporting or cameo roles, including Qin Hailu, Anthony Wong, Paul Chun, Chapman To, and Sammo Hung, among many others. Sister Tao (Deanie Ip) has served five generations of the Leung family since she was thirteen. Today, at over seventy years old, she continues to take care of Roger (Andy Lau), the only member of the family left in Hong Kong. After suffering a stroke at home one day, Tao realizes it's about time she retired, so she asks Roger to find her a nursing home for rehabilitation. Tao struggles to adjust to the strange new environment as well as her eccentric fellow inmates, but Roger is there to care for this mother figure who has devoted her life to his.

From 1969 to 1995, Yamada Yoji directed an iconic series of films titled Otoko wa Tsurai yo (a.k.a. It's Tough Being a Man) about a traveling salesman and his never-ending difficulties with love. The director shows that relationships don't get any easier with time in his 2016 film What a Wonderful Family! (a.k.a. Kazoku wa Tsurai yo). Yamada reunites the cast of Tokyo Family including Hashizume Isao, Yoshiyuki Kazuko, Tsumabuki Satoshi, Aoi Yu, Nishimura Masahiko, Natsukawa Yui, Hayashiya Shozo and Nakajima Tomoko for an astute, good-humored look into the dynamics of the modern family.

Married for 50 years, Shuzo (Hashizume Isao) and Tomiko (Yoshiyuki Kazuko) live with their sons Konosuke (Nishimura Masahiko) and Shota (Tsumabuki Satoshi) as well as their daughter-in-law (Natsukawa Yui) and their grandchildren. With so many people under one roof, the house is constantly bustling with bicker and banter. On Tomiko's latest birthday, which Shuzo has as usual forgotten, she calmly asks him for a present: divorce.

Comedy king Stephen Chow emphatically reclaimed his throne during the 2016 Lunar New Year period with the blockbuster fantasy romance comedy Mermaid, which broke every Chinese box office record on the books on its way towards becoming the biggest Chinese film of all time. Besides its record-breaking box office, Mermaid garnered positive reviews from audiences and critics alike hailing the return of Stephen Chow-style comedy. Chow's off-the-wall modern-day fairy tale revolves around an innocent mermaid on a mission to assassinate the businessman destroying her home, but the plan falls to the wayside amid side-tickling gags. Starring breakout newcomer Jelly Lin, Deng Chao (The Four), Show Luo (Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons) and Kitty Zhang (CJ7) with cameo appearances from Tsui Hark, Wen Zhang and Kris Wu, the magical tale is filled with Chow's signature nonsensical humor, a heartfelt love story and strong environmental themes.

Rich and rude businessman Liu Xuan (Deng Chao) is raking in the money through a sea reclamation and redevelopment project on the coast of Green Gulf. To secure the environmental seal of approval, he uses a sonar device to drive ocean creatures away from the coast. Unbeknownst to the world, however, Green Gulf is the home of the merpeople. The sonar device has gravely injured the mermaid population and forced what remains of them out of the sea and into an abandoned bunker where they plot to take out Liu Xuan in order to reclaim their home. Their grand plan is to send out young mermaid Shan (Jelly Lin) into the human world to seduce and kill Liu Xuan. With her strange shuffling walk and backwaters naivete, Shan succeeds in attracting Liu Xuan's attention but unexpectedly, they find themselves falling in love with each other.

Note: 3D television, 3D Blu-ray player and 3D glasses are required to view the 3D version of the film.

Panorama Memories Of Matsuko (Blu-ray) (English Subtitled) (Hong Kong Version) at 171.00 HKD from YesAsia
Panorama Memories Of Matsuko (Blu-ray) (English Subtitled) (Hong Kong Version)
HK$ 171.00
A Life Full of Love is a Life Full of Meaning!

When a young man is told that his aunt's body has been found in a park, he starts to discover the truth about her past, only to stumble upon more than he ever imagined in this fairytale-like tragedy from Nakashima Tetsuya, the man behind the international smash Shimotsuma Monogotari, a.k.a. Kamikaze Girls. Nakashima explodes genre conventions in Memories of Matsuko (Kiraware Matsuko no Issho) an entertaining, wholly unforgettable film that is equal parts drama, comedy, and musical!

Memories of Matsuko is a heartbreaking tale like no other, centering on the life of Kawajiri Matsuko (Nakatani Miki, from Densha Otoko), a dedicated, entirely hopeless romantic on the lookout for her very own Prince Charming! After Matsuko's death, her nephew Sho (Eita) begins cleaning out her apartment, finding keepsakes that suggest his aunt lived a truly meaningful life. The film then gives us glimpses into her past, as we first see Matsuko back in the 1970s as a popular high school teacher at the local junior high school. Her fortunes change, however, when she nobly takes the blame for a crime by one of her prized students. As a result, Matsuko loses her job, her reputation, the regard of her family, and much, much more.

In the past, Matsuko always sought the love of her dour father (Emoto Akira), but he always seemed to be more concerned about her chronically ill sibling. Now, with seemingly no one left to turn to, Matsuko looks to find any man who will return her love, even if that man resorts to physical abuse against her. Even worse, Matsuko eventually gets involved in prostitution and even goes to prison. Later, she crosses paths with Ryu (Yusuke Iseya), the young thief who cost Matsuko her teaching job. He reveals his lifelong affection for her, and Matsuko soon believes she has finally found her Knight in Shining Armor. But Ryu is a gangster, and his dangerous ways seem to spell doom for their relationship. Will their love prevail?

Full of dazzling CG-assisted visuals and amazing musical numbers that articulate the personal feelings of its lead character, Memories of Matsuko boasts a curious narrative approach, as the depressing, often dark subject matter is enlivened by the film's glossy veneer and upbeat point of view. Based on Yamada Muneki's best-selling novel, Memories of Matsuko sidesteps melodramatic cliches in order to get across its message: a life full of love is a life full of meaning indeed!

Deltamac Kung Fu Dunk (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version) at 206.00 HKD from YesAsia
Deltamac Kung Fu Dunk (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)
HK$ 206.00
From top-selling artist to blockbuster leading man to blockbuster director, Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou has proven over the last eight years that he can do no wrong when it comes to moving units. After awards and accolades for his 2007 directorial debut Secret, Chou stays in front of the camera for his latest offering, the glossy basketball youth film Kung Fu Dunk. Released over the Lunar New Year to hefty box office receipts, this film is loosely based on the popular manga Slam Dunk, but with an added kick of kung fu fun choreographed by award-winning action director Ching Siu Tung (Hero, The Warlords). A well-known basketball and martial arts enthusiast himself, Chou struts his skills and then some more, thanks to gravity-defying CGI assistance. Hong Kong veteran Eric Tsang co-stars as a sinewy agent, along with Wilson Chen (Blue Gate Crossing) and Twins' Charlene Choi (Simply Actors), looking cute as a button as Chou's romantic interest.

Abandoned as an infant, Fang Shi Jie (Jay Chou) grew up in a martial arts school and has acquired himself some impressive fighting skills. He can also throw with amazing accuracy, a talent that grabs the attentions of con man Zhen Li (Eric Tsang). Unwittingly pulled into Zhen's hustling plans, Fang crosses the wrong people and gets kicked out of his martial arts school. Zhen then enrolls Fang into First University in hopes of turning him into a basketball star. After some quick training, Fang and team are tearing through the league to the championships, but some foes from Fang and Zhen's past have money staked on the game, and they're more than willing to play dirty to get their way.

Kung Fu Dunk is directed by Kevin Chu Yen Ping, Taiwan's commercial cinema champion of the 1980s and 90s with films like No Sir and Young Policemen in Love, not to mention Hong Kong wackfests like Flying Dagger. With Chu at the helm, Kung Fu Dunk lives up to its Lunar New Year film slot with some flighty, nonsensical comedy that wears its heart and silliness on the sleeve. Veteran actors Eddy Ko and Kenneth Tsang make welcome appearances, as well as Ng Man Tat and Leung Ka Yan who readily ham it up as kung fu masters.

This release comes with the following special features:

Andy Lau delivers a powerful performance in Lee Rock I, the first of two films chronicling the true story of one Hong Kong police officer's rise to power. Lee Rock (Andy Lau) is a barely-literate street kid who joins the police force only to learn a rough lesson: the goal of being a cop is to gain promotions, and not necessarily to protect and serve. Bribes and kickbacks are a part of the game, and to try and remain clean is to invite isolation and poverty. Lee Rock tries to stick to his personal ideals anyway. But his righteousness earns him derision of the fellow cops and even causes him to lose his beloved fiancee Rose (Chingmy Yau)! Eventually, Lee Rock becomes determined to become Chief of Police to affect change from within, but the obstacles are great. His corrupt superior (Paul Chun) is looking to destroy him, and his new flame Grace (Sharla Cheung) happens to be the daughter of a top gangster! Can Lee Rock make it to the top without tarnishing his very soul? Andy Lau earned a Best Actor Nomination for his performance as the title character in Lee Rock, a tense and intelligent motion picture that brings true-to-life drama to the Hong Kong police genre. Followed by the sequel Lee Rock II, which features the return of Chingmy Yau, and also Aaron Kwok as Lee Rock's son!

Renowned actress Joan Chen (Lust, Caution) makes a vital supporting appearance and there are some unexpected star cameos, too.

Sharing the writing duties are idol drama screenwriters Du Sin Yi (My Queen) and Chen Hung Chieh (Hi My Sweetheart), who give the genre conventions an art-mimics-life twist drawing parallels with reality. The film features Leehom as big-time pop star Du Minghan, who yearns for a simpler life free of packed schedules and relentless paparazzi. He enrolls himself in a music academy in the guise of a scruffy-looking student so that nobody recognizes him. But love isn't something that can be concealed when he meets adorable classmate Song Xiaoqing (Liu Yifei). Also responsible for the soundtrack of the film, Leehom has earned himself a Best Original Film Song nomination at the 47th Golden Horse Awards with the theme song "All the Things You Never Knew".

Based on a novel by Nakajima Kyoko, this heartrending drama chronicles a taboo love affair set in the late 1930s, at the eve of the Sino-Japanese War. In a performance that earned her a Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival, Kuroki Haru stars as Taki, a young girl from the countryside who moves to Tokyo to become a maid for the Hirai Family. During Taki's time there, she witnesses a burgeoning extramarital affair between family matriarch Tokiko (Matsu Takako) and Shoji (Yoshioka Hidetaka), a new employee at her husband's toy manufacturing company. Chow Yun Fat returns as a debonair gambling master for the third film in the blockbuster From Vegas to Macau series. Raking in huge box office during the 2016 Lunar New Year period, From Vegas to Macau III not only brings back Nick Cheung, Carina Lau and Shawn Yue, it also adds Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Chris Lee and even a Psy cameo to form the series' most star-studded installment yet. Reminiscent of the anything-goes Hong Kong comedies of the eighties and nineties, the mash-up gambling caper directed by Wong Jing and Andrew Lau draws laughs through plentiful gags, old-school references and top stars mugging and chewing scenery with obvious delight.

Ken Shek (Chow Yun Fat) is already all torn up about his daughter (Kimmy Tong) and protege (Shawn Yue) getting married, but things quickly go from bad to worse when an explosion leaves the newlyweds comatose on their wedding day. Soon after, Ken and his buddy Mark (Nick Cheung) both get arrested on trumped-up charges and sent to prison. All of this is part of the revenge plan of mad scientist JC (Jacky Cheung), who is in love with Ken's longtime flame and foe Molly (Carina Lau). With the help of Michael "Dagger" Chan (Andy Lau, reprising his God of Gamblers role), Ken and Mark break out of prison, gather up the crew and bide their time for a final casino showdown with JC.

Johnnie To offers a very different take on the Hong Kong triad genre in Election. Simon Yam Tat Wah and Tony Leung Ka Fai portray two triad leaders who struggle with each other to head the Wo Sing Society. The film never romanticizes triad leaders as heroes (like the Young and Dangerous series), nor condemns them as criminals, but offers an extremely realistic portrayal of gangsters as human beings.

Apart from the two superstars Simon Yam and Tony Leung as potential Chairpersons Big D and Lok respectively, the film also has Louis Koo playing the young, brilliant, and college-educated rising star in the triad. Veteran Wong Tin Lam is the influential senior triad member Uncle Teng. Well-experienced actors including Nick Cheung, Eddie Cheung, Lam Suet, and Gordon Lam, who has excelled in many other Johnnie To movies, vividly portray other gangsters in the film, and Maggie Shiu is Tony Leung's wife.

The film title Election already spells out the plot: it follows the Chairman selection process in the Wo Sing Society. The film opens with the ceremonial rituals of the Chairman's inauguration, which reminds us of the Society's origin being a centuries-old institution once with a virtuous aim of overthrowing tyranny. Ironically, while the head of the Wo Sing Society is still elected by senior triad members nowadays, the temperamental Big D (Tong Leung) and the calculating Lok (Simon Yam) both attempt to beat their competitors by all means, including bribing the seniors and bullying the opponents.

The intervention from the police and Uncle Teng (Wong Tin Lam), and the conflicts and cooperation among the junior triad members, etc, lead to complicated politics and, undoubtedly, fierce fights as well. Even without a single gunshot, the film still contains plenty of spectacular actions alongside in-depth depiction of human nature during power struggle. Johnnie To enriches the film with a political allusion to the present day Hong Kong, making this excellent title more than just another triad movie.

Ever since a near drowning accident, Soo Ro (Ko Hyun Jung) has suffered from an anxiety order, and often gets panic attacks when she's around people. One day, she has yet another panic attack and a nun helps her out. Soo Ro agrees to make a delivery for the nun, but when she gets to the hotel room of the recipient - she walks right into a murder scene! It turns out that the nun was actually the notorious "Miss Go", and Soo Ro just got herself mixed up in a drug dealing operation. She manages to get out of the hotel alive, but now both the cops and the mob are on her tail!

Popular actress Ko Hyun Jung (Woman on the Beach) charms in spades as the unlikely heroine of the action comedy caper Miss Conspirator. Like director Park Chul Kwan's early 2000s hit Hi! Dharma!, Miss Conspirator offers a zany mix of comedy, action, and romance, eliciting laughs with unexpected scenarios and inspired characters. Ko Hyun Jung is surrounded by an impressive lineup of actors - Yu Hae Jin, Park Shin Yang, Sung Dong Il, Lee Moon Sik, and Ko Chang Seok - all of whom deliver hilarious, idiosyncratic performances.

One of the most expensive movies ever to be filmed in China, Dragon Blade was released to much fanfare during the 2015 Lunar New Year period and quickly roared to the top of the box office no small feat in the always crowded Lunar New Year movie landscape. Boasting an international cast that includes Jackie Chan, John Cusack, Adrien Brody and Super Junior's Choi Si Won, Dragon Blade is an action-packed adventure that depicts a fictional meeting between a noble Chinese commander and two Romans on opposite sides of an empire-defining conflict.

As the commander of the Silk Road Protection Squad, which is tasked with keeping the peace in the tribally diverse northwestern border of Han Dynasty China, the dutiful and dedicated Huo An (Jackie Chan) is frequently forced to toe a precarious line to maintain order. In the end, he too succumbs to the unruly politics of the region, as he's falsely accused of smuggling and exiled to Wild Geese Gate. There, he meets Roman general Lucius (John Cusack), who is trying to help Publius, heir of the Consul, escape the clutches of his power-hungry older brother, Tiberius (Adrien Brody). Huo An and Lucius soon become allies and friends, and as Tiberius draws closer with his army of 100,000 soldiers, they must find a way to fight back, even if they are severely outgunned.

An amusing title directed by Johnnie To and featuring comedy star Stephen Chow is now digitally remastered! New version coming with trailers, photo gallery, behind-the-scene features, plus more!

Johnnie To and Stephen Chow collaborated for the first time in 1992 in Justice, My Foot! which turned out to be a box-office hit. Next year in 1993 they made The Mad Monk based on a Chinese legendary who helps the poor and upholds justice by fighting against the corrupted officials. Stephen Chow successfully turns this figure into a hilarious character to amuse his audience! Co-starring many times award-winning actor Anthony Wong Chau Sang, talented beauty Maggie Cheung Man Yuk, and Stephen Chow's long collaborator Richard Ng Man Tat, The Mad Monk will surely delight all fans of Chinese comedy!

A petty and arrogant god Dragon Fighter Lo Han (Stephen Chow) receives an order to change the lives of three bad people on earth. He therefore reincarnates as a Monk and starts working on a trio of, unfortunately for him but to viewers' delight, a beggar (Anthony Wong), a prostitute (Maggie Cheung), and a killer ...

Johnnie To's Election was a major box-office success and a multiple winner at the Hong Kong Film Awards. The momentum carries on in Election 2, an effective sequel to the original film, which expands upon the plot and, more importantly, the themes of the original. Like Election, Election 2 centers on a power struggle between two triad leaders. Simon Yam reprises his role as Lok, the ambitious Wo Sing chairperson in Election. In the sequel he seeks a second term of office, a feat never before attempted in the gang. His opponent, instead of coming from his peers like in Election, is the rising young triad leader Jimmy, played by Louis Koo. The astounding storytelling and visually powerful sequences expose the darker side of human nature during their power struggle, in a style that no one can do better than HK's genre film master Johnnie To.

It has been two years since Lok (Simon Yam) quite literally beat Big D to head the Wo Sing triad, and now is the time for another round of elections. The two-year term cannot satisfy Lok's greed for power, and he attempts to violate the gang's rules and seek a second term. Nick Cheung and Gordon Lam return as the Wo Sing members who have also shown interest in the chairman's seat, while Lam Suet and Eddie Cheung are triads who seem content with what they have. Jimmy (Louis Koo), the up-and-coming triad entrepreneur is too involved in his pirate VCD business to run for office. But the influential Uncles, led by Deng (Wong Tin Lam), want to groom him, and Jimmy soon finds out that chairman status is essential for expanding his business on the Mainland.

In Election 2, Johnnie To has made his political references even more explicit than in the first film. Those who have stayed in touch with Hong Kong's political news will find much amusement in the film's denouement. But even those who have not will find much to delight them in To's sharp and witty observations on Hong Kong's election system.

Hong Kong's top comedy filmmaker Lee Lik Chi is back in the director's chair, helming the long-awaited follow-up to his classic laughfest Flirting Scholar, the 1993 Stephen Chow blockbuster that grossed over HK$40 million at the box office. Since Chow was not available for a second outing, the over-the-top costume comedy casts popular actor Huang Xiaoming as a younger and perhaps, in a way, more comical Tong Bak Fu. Huang leads a stellar cast that includes acclaimed actress Zhang Jingchu, Taiwan star Richie Jen, Mainland comedian Zhou Libo, as well as returning cast members Nat Chan, Kingdom Yuen, Joey Leung, Mimi Chu, and Stephen Chow regulars Lam Tze Chung and Tin Kai Man.

In the prequel to Flirting Scholar, Tong Bak Fu (Huang Xiaoming) and his poetically vulgar buddies Tsui Ching Hing (Richie Jen), Chuk Chi Shan (Nat Chan), and Man Ching Ming (Zhou Libo) - known collectively as the "Four Bad Boys" - get into troubles wherever they go. Tong's mother decides to send him to a famous boarding school to study, and makes him swear never to use his extraordinary kung fu skills again. Thinking that it means freedom for him, Tong happily obliges. Once there, he falls instantly for the gorgeous Cin Cin (Zhang Jingchu), unaware of the mysterious events that await him...

Panorama Lazy Hazy Crazy (2015) (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)
    HK$ 163.00
Arguably Hong Kong's smartest and wittiest filmmaker Pang Ho Cheung (Vulgaria, Aberdeen) produces Lazy Hazy Crazy, the directorial debut of his frequent screenwriter Jody Luk. This ribald comedy-drama is a playful, salacious and incredibly naughty coming-of-age story about three disaffected high school friends who find growth and change through sexual exploration. Uncommon to current Hong Kong film, the young actresses all turn in daring performances featuring frank language and nudity. Director Luk based the screenplay on interviews with actual Hong Kong girls though names have obviously been changed to protect the not-so-innocent.

Alice (Fish Liew, Doomsday Party) uses WeChat to source paid dates, but her clients sometimes request deviant sexual behavior as part of her services. Meanwhile, Alice helps Chloe (Koyi Mak) set up her own dating profile but while the two become closer friends, Alice may be developing more than platonic feelings for Chloe. Watching both is the virgin Tracy (Ashina Kwok), who grows jealous of her friends' growing bond. Wishing to become sexually active, she has Alice introduce her to club girl work, where she becomes the exclusive date of the charming and rich Raymond (Gregory Wong, Lan Kwai Fong). But despite her steps into the adult world, Tracy's true love is a high school boy, Andrew (Tse Sit Chun).

Directed by Min Kyu Dong (All About My Wife), the erotically charged period thriller The Treacherous is set in the early 16th century during the reign of King Yeonsan, who notoriously abused his power and indulged in carnal pleasures. Kim Kang Woo (The Taste of Money) plays the maniacal tyrant who brazenly orders that 10,000 women be brought into the palace for his entertainment. Beyond the monarch, however, there stood another man: Yeonsan's seemingly loyal subject Im Soon Jae played by Ju Ji Hoon (Confession) who is tasked with rounding up women and training them into sex objects for the king. As Soon Jae secretly pulls the wool over the eyes of the king and the court, a plot to overthrow Yeonsan brews in the palace. Up-and-coming actress Lim Ji Yeon follows her award-winning debut in Obsessed with another alluring role as a maiden of lower caste who voluntarily enters the palace to seduce and avenge.

Writer Christine To and director Roy Chow (Nightfall) spin a new origin story for the all-knowing martial arts master to inspire a new generation of audiences. Set in the seedy area of Guangzhou's Huangpu port, the film depicts Wong as an idealistic young man in pursuit of a single dream: To pursue justice in the name of righteousness. To achieve Chow's and action director Corey Yuen's vision, Peng, Jing Boran (The Guillotines) and Wang Luodan (Caught in the Web) had to undergo intense martial arts training. The first Chinese film co-produced by Hollywood studio Universal Pictures, Rise of the Legend also co-stars Sammo Hung, Max Zhang (The Grandmaster), Angelababy (Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Seas Dragon) and Tony Leung Ka Fai.

Late Qing Dynasty. Huangpu Port in Guangzhou is over-run by corruption and crime, ruled by rival gangs who exploit the people. One day, a stranger named Fei (Eddie Peng) comes to Huangpu and joins the Black Tiger gang, run with an iron fist by Master Lei (Sammo Hung). After proving himself by taking out Lei's nemesis, Fei becomes one of Lei's most valued disciples. Meanwhile, a band of orphans led by Fiery (Jing Boran) and Chun (Wang Luodan) slowly make their presence known in Huangpu by taking down Black Tiger's operations.

The famous tale of Mae Nak Phra Khanong gets the comedic treatment in Pee Mak Phra Khanong, a horror comedy from Shutter director Bangjong Pisanthanakun. Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer (Jan Dara: The Beginning) stars as Mak, a soldier returning to his loving wife Nak (Davika Hoorne) after surviving the war. However, his four war buddies and the rest of the town realize something that Mak doesn't want to believe: His wife is dead and has returned to the human world as a ghost.

Pee Mak isn't the first adaptation of the famous ghost tale, but Pisanthanakun brings a refreshing comic twist to a somber tale of terror and star-crossed lovers by adding Mak's four war buddies as comic relief. The result is a film that is a spooky and hilarious ride with a touching love story. The fun genre hybrid proved to be a great draw for audiences across Asia, making Pee Mak the highest grossing domestic film of all time in Thailand, as well as a surprise hit in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Bittersweet revenge is the name of the game in The Fearless Hyena. The Fearless Hyena marks Chan's directorial debut, who also stars as the young lay-about village boy Lung, who seeks unerring vengeance after his master is brutally murdered. A vicious general (Yam Sai Kun) has been roaming the country, systematically wiping out his grandfather's clan, and when he too is executed, Lung is finally dragged out of lethargy and sets out in hot pursuit of the villainous general.

What could so easily have turned into yet another formulaic revenge piece emerges as an unmissable piece of Hong Kong action comedy, thanks in large part to the playful performances and expertly handled fight choreography. Lung's ineptitude forces him to back into training before he can exact his revenge, prompting many highly amusing, as well as skillfully played out training sequences.

Grab a Wuba of your own and go on a Monster Hunt! In 2015, a little radish created a massive phenomenon in China. The brainchild of respected animator Raman Hui (also known as "Father of Shrek"), Huba was brought to life in Monster Hunt by Emmy Award-winning special effects maestros. The little radish is the undisputed star of the big-budget family-friendly fantasy comedy, sharing the screen with the likes of Jing Boran (Lost and Love), Bai Baihe (The Stolen Years), Eric Tsang (An Inspector Calls), Sandra Ng (Mcdull, Me And My Mum), Wallace Chung (The Continent) and Tang Wei (The Golden Era) in a story inspired by a tale in Pu Songling's oft-adapted Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio. Such is the charm and power of Wuba that Monster Hunt has definitively overtaken 2012's Lost in Thailand as China's biggest film of all time.

Life is simple in Yongning Village. So simple, in fact, that the uneasy truce between monsters and humans, who now live in relative peace after a warring period, hardly seems to be of concern. But danger and adventure arise where you least expect them to, and the little village's fortunes change when the pregnant queen of the monsters takes refuge there with her servants Zhugao (Eric Tsang) and Fat Ying (Sandra Ng) after a coup in their realm. A wild chase ensues when the queen looks to make a meal of bumbling villager Tianyin (Jing Boran), and somehow, the chase ends with Tianyin bearing the monster prince. Before he gets a chance to give birth to the prince, though, monster hunter Xiaolan (Bai Baihe) storms into Yongning, looking to capture the soon-to-be-born Wuba for a hefty bounty.
