Talk about CraftsmanshipCan we take a moment to get all geeky here? Well too bad, we're going to do it anyway. We want to talk about fringe. No, not the TV show, the clothing feature. Why you ask? Well, because it's neat stuff. Did you know the Native Americans were some of the first to incorporate fringe? That's right. Not only do they have a rich culture, but they are also highly innovative when it comes to clothing. We know what you're thinking: what's the big deal with fringe? Well, it's cool for multiple reasons. First, it's pretty versatile. It can be made in different ways and out of different materials (leather? hair?), and there's a lot of variety (braid it! add beads!). You see, fringe is both decorative and practical. We're pretty sure you understand the decorative bit (after all, who doesn't appreciate a bit of fringe whipping about pleasantly?), but fringe was useful as well. It can help keep the wearer dry (or at least help them dry faster). Also, the Native Americans were great about not wasting materials, so if they had some leather or other materials left over, they made it into fringe. That's right. So not only can fringe make a statement, it's resourceful as well. Fun DetailsSo if you're feeling like paying homage to some bodacious fringe, check out our Native American Warrior Costume. This costume is made of faux suede. The short-sleeved shirt fastens at the back of the neck and has fringe at the shoulders and along the hemline. The pants (with elastic waist) have fringe down the side seams as well. There's also a headband with feather and self-tie belt (no beaded chest piece), but we all know that the star of the show here is really that fabulous fringe. On the FringeSo hopefully you get our point and understand why fringe is such an awesome feature to have on clothes... huh. Weird. We've said fringe so many times that it's no longer sounding like a word. Fringe. Fringe...
