How to clean Peak Design bags?

Got a smudge, stain, or just a mud-streaked mess on your gear? Fret not, here’s how to make your bag look good as new:

  1. Hand-wash with warm water. Many of Peak Design’s fabrics are treated with anti-absorption agents like DWR or polyurethane, meaning most stains don’t go very deep. Most dirt can be easily removed using a damp washcloth. If water alone doesn’t remove your stain and/or odour, try using a mild detergent (a very small bit of dish or laundry soap) or an outdoor-gear-specific cleaner like Nikwax. Afterwards, rinse with warm water. If the stain/order is still present after the first rines, repeat with soap, and gently scrub it with a soft-bristled brush. Rinse and repeat if necessary.
  2. Do not use abrasive scrubbers like Brillo or Scotch Brite, as those may damage the fabric. A washcloth or sponge should do the job.
  3. Avoid submerging the bag in water and never put it through the washing machine. The high temperature and agitation can cause damage to the bag’s structure and the weatherproof coating.
  4. Let the bag fully dry in a well-ventilated area. Drying time depends on how wet your bag is. Many of Peak Designs’ bags contain protective and structural foam, which can absorb water (hence our point about avoiding submersion). If any part of your bag is soaked through with water, we recommend using an electric fan to speed up the drying process. Avoid storing the bag in damp or non-ventilated environments, as this can result in the formation of mildew.
