Behold, YouTube HDR Arrives for the LG V30!

23 February 2018 | Jonathan So

Watching YouTube on LG V30 just got better as the HDR version of YouTube is now available on the smartphone. HDR, which stands for high dynamic range, is a feature that not many smartphone users are unable to experience. It provides a deeper level of contrast and richer colours compared to what is usually seen on smartphones.

However, LG V30 owners are in for a treat as Google has now included the smartphone as well as Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and Sony Xperia XZ Premium to support YouTube HDR. If your phone is compatible, YouTube will automatically play compatible videos in HDR without needing any input from users.

There are plenty of content awaiting users at YouTube’s collection of 4K videos such as Venice Carnival, The Redwoods, and Peru. The only problem with this emerging technology is the lack of HDR-ready content available on YouTube’s site. But given that YouTube is the largest video-sharing site in the world, HDR content will be more abundant going forward.

The V30 is more than equipped to accommodate YouTube HDR as it is the first smartphone from the South Korean company to feature an OLED display in years built into a well-crafted device with a Full Vision Display. The Gorilla Glass-5 covered OLED display offers more than vivid colours and deep contrast levels. The Full Vision Display pushes the bezels out to a minimum and widens the screen to make more room for your viewing pleasure. Combining these specs together with YouTube HDR and you will be able to experience viewing pleasure unlike any other.

Besides being able to support YouTube HDR, the V30 is also known as LG’s best smartphone to date. This feature-filled smartphone sports a Snapdragon 835 along with 4GB of RAM (a first for LG), dual camera setup with the world’s first f/1.6 aperture, and Google Daydream compatibility.
