Official Details of Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ Straight from Mobile World Congress 2018

01 March 2018 | Jillian Cheong

After months of rumours and speculations, Samsung has finally unveiled the spanking new Galaxy S9 and S9+ at the annual Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. And from the looks of it, the phone is billed to rival Apple’s iPhone X.

All About the Details

It comes as no surprise that Samsung has incorporated plenty of new technology in the Galaxy S9 and S9+. The 960fps slow-motion camera, AR Emoji, Dolby Atmos, and large aperture lens are just the icing on the cake. Samsung not only placed more attention to detail for every feature but outdoes the previous generation of Galaxy phones.

Record Videos at 960fps

A stand-out feature of the Galaxy S9/S9+ is the super slow-mo video recording. Users are able to record videos up to 960fps for the fraction of a second, which is then stretched to 6 seconds for the slow-mo effect.

Personalized AR Emoji

The obvious rival here is Samsung’s version of iPhone’s Animoji – AR Emoji. Instead of animal characters, users only need to take a selfie which will be turned into their own custom emoji. You can play around with different hair, clothes, makeup and be creative as possible. How awesome is that!

New Level of Audio Experience with Dolby Atmos

If you’re a frequent movie-goer, you’ll be familiar with the surround system utilised in cinemas – Dolby Atmos. Now, you can experience immersive sound in the palm of your hands with the Galaxy S9/S9+. Users can experience a new level of audio where they can feel like they’re in the actions as the sounds of people, places, or things.

Dual Aperture

Thanks to the switchable aperture lens of f/1.5 and f/2.4 on the Galaxy S9, it has vastly improved shooting in low-light conditions. On the other hand, taking shots in well-lit environments also results in photos that are much clearer and sharper.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ puts more emphasis on user experience this time around. Each function is done better as well as becoming close to perfect. You might not want to upgrade your Galaxy S8 just yet, but we would gladly recommend for other brands of Android users to do so, because the Galaxy S9/S9+ is indeed an excellent choice right now!
