Xiaomi may have leaked Redmi Pro’s successor, the Redmi Pro 2, on their official website. Although they managed to take down the listing quickly, the hawk-eyed followers of the device already had gathered information on it. Based on the leak, the Redmi Pro 2 will sport a 5.5-inch AMOLED display and will house a whopping battery capacity of 4,100 mAh, which is a slight upgrade from its predecessor. It will wield a metallic body and a 2.5D screen with a curved glass surface.
According to the listing, the Redmi Pro 2 will house a Snapdragon 660 chipset with 8 cores at 64-bit. This is a trade from the Helio chipset that Xiaomi incorporated on the Redmi Pro 2’s predecessor last year. The device will also come with three RAM variants: 2 GB, 3 GB, and 4 GB editions.
In the imaging department, the Redmi Pro 2 is getting a major improvement over last year’s version. It will host a dual camera setting on the back with two high-resolution sensors at 16 MP. While its front camera is expected to get an upgrade from its first-gen version. The Redmi Pro only had a 13 MP primary camera and a 5 MP front snapper which are small values compared to its latest version.
Apart from the design and internal hardware, information about the Redmi Pro 2’s other features was also revealed. It will come with a fingerprint scanner, just like its predecessor. It will also feature a hybrid sim slot and a Voice over LTE support.
If the listing is to be believed, the price of the Redmi Pro 2 starts at $174 (which converts to 753 RM, 242 SGD, 1354 HKD, and 8664 PHP). This costs much lower compared to its first-gen version whose starting price was $217.
