HK$ 63.00

Director Wong Jing delivers a tough, unexpected triad drama with A True Mob Story. Superstar Andy Lau is Cheung Dee, a low-level triad boss who won fame when he saved superior triad boss Prince (Mark Cheng) from certain death at the hands of the vicious Crazy Ball (Ben Ng). But the years since his famous act have not been kind. Once a righteous, passionate man, Dee is now a spineless patsy who steals credit instead of earning it himself. But when he's set up by his bosses, Dee must take a stand. Can he regain the righteousness of his youth? Andy Lau delivers a powerhouse performance, and director-writer Wong Jing delivers an emotionally complex story. In this bold take on the triad genre, a good man must regain his self-respect by rising up against the same triad underworld that nearly destroyed him. Featuring a packed cast of top Hong Kong stars, including Gigi Leung, Alex Fong and Sam Lee, A True Mob Story surprises with a dark, romantic triad tale that's entertaining, uncompromising, and utterly compelling.

Xin Sheng Dai All Men Are Brothers - Blood Of The Leopard (Taiwan Version) at 39.00 HKD from YesAsia
Xin Sheng Dai All Men Are Brothers - Blood Of The Leopard (Taiwan Version)
HK$ 39.00
YesAsia
Adapted from the classic Shi Naian novel The Water Margin, All Men are Brothers - Blood of the Leopard is a newer take on the legendary stories of the 108 heroes of Liang Shan mountain, which were previously adapted by director Chang Cheh in the seventies epics The Water Margin and All Men are Brothers. Billy Chan Wui Ngai helms this newer attempt, which casts Tony Leung Ka Fai as Lin Chung, an overly-principled Sung dynasty general who refuses to betray the government, even though he's been unjustly exiled by his former comrades. Luckily, he befriends righteous monk Ru Chi Shen (Elvis Tsui in a show-stealing role), who aids Lin Chung to dispense inevitable, bloody justice. An all-star cast (including Sean Lau Ching Wan and Joey Wang) anchor All Men are Brothers - Blood of the Leopard, which mines beloved themes of righteousness and brotherhood in the World of Martial Arts, and does so in the dazzling kung-fu style of early nineties Hong Kong Cinema!

Xin Sheng Dai Fallen Angels (Taiwan Version)
HK$ 94.00

In Chungking Express, director Wong Kar Wai delivered a breezy, effervescent look at two cops falling in and out of love amidst Hong Kong's alienating urban cityscape. Fallen Angels takes the styles and themes presented in Chungking Express and pushes them even further, delving deeper into Hong Kong's sleepless nights to find characters who've truly fallen from grace. Leon Lai is a disaffected hitman who enters a relationship of convenience with a heartbroken flirt (Karen Mok), while his emotionally damaged partner (Michelle Reis) pines for him silently. Meanwhile, a mute child-like grifter (Takeshi Kaneshiro), finds one-sided love with a brassy young woman (Charlie Young), who's also suffering from a broken heart. As Hong Kong's neon nights drag on, these five desperate souls crisscross and collide in hilarious, romantic, and completely surprising ways. Featuring gorgeous cinematography from Christopher Doyle, and a hip soundtrack from Frankie Chan and Roel A. Garcia, Fallen Angels is a dark, stylish and undeniably cinematic portrait of Hong Kong that ranks among Wong Kar Wai's most stunning works!

Jackie Chan returns to action in Police Story 3: Super Cop, the sequel which proves that Hong Kong can no longer contain the destruction-causing mayhem of cop Chan Ka Kui! After Chan's last two property damage-filled exploits, the Royal Hong Kong Police Force sends him to team up with Mainland cop Michelle Yeoh (the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies) to track the movements of evil bad guy Panther (Yuen Wah). The two go undercover as Panther's comrades, and their journey takes them all across Asia until their final stop in Malaysia, which features a run-in with Chan's girlfriend May (the returning Maggie Cheung), and an amazing car-helicopter-motorcycle-train chase sequence that must be seen to be believed! Genial comedy, energetic kung-fu action, and even more mind-blowing stunts are on tap in Police Story 3: Super Cop!Released in the West as simply Supercop, Police Story 3: Super Cop was the film that introduced Hong Kong Cinema to many Western moviegoers, who became instant fans of both Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh. Jackie Chan displays his usual comic charisma and agile stunt skills, but it's Michelle Yeoh's high-kicking derring-do that steals this show! She jumps, kicks, and performs her own share of difficult stuntwork, including a motorcycle jump onto a moving train that will leave your jaw on the floor. Filled with more amazing action than whole series of action films could ever muster, Police Story 3: Super Cop is a definitive Hong Kong classic!

Chow Yun-Fat is at his charismatic best in Ringo Lam's City on Fire, a deceptively straightforward crime film that was the inspiration for Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs. Chow is an undercover cop assigned to infiltrate a gang of violent thieves, but his submergence in the criminal underworld takes its toll. His isolation from his true identity - and his friendship with thief Danny Lee - leads him to question his duty. What is more important: justice or honor? For Chow, that question proves damning, and his continuing self-torment builds towards an unexpected, explosive climax.Directed with assurance by Ringo Lam, City on Fire captures the reality of the criminal underworld like few Hong Kong films ever have. Lam's vision of the criminal world is not black-and-white, but a murky grey, and his characters are neither hero nor villain, but irretrievably flawed and undeniably human. Chow Yun-Fat's award-winning performance is powerful and emotionally compelling. In contrast to Tarantino's flashier remake, Ringo Lam's film feels less cinematic, but it ultimately sticks to your gut. Reservoir Dogs brings style, but City on Fire delivers the goods.

Recognized for Best Original Screenplay at the 40th Golden Horse Awards and Best Director at the 23rd Hong Kong Film Awards, Johnnie To's brilliant 2003 police drama PTU patrols the dark, sleepless streets of Hong Kong over one very eventful night. With hardboiled anti-heroes and thrilling gunfights aesthetically washed in noir colors, PTU is a quintessential police triad drama from the master of the genre. Donning the signature black beret of the Hong Kong Police Tactical Unit, Simon Yam (Election) gives a perfectly steely and charismatic performance as a PTU officer on a coldly determined mission to find a missing police gun. Johnnie To regulars Lam Suet, Raymond Wong, Maggie Siu, and Ruby Wong play fellow police officers, while veterans Lo Hoi Pang and Eddy Ko face off as triad leaders. The night starts like any other as PTU sergeant Mike (Simon Yam) and his squad begin their patrol. They come across Officer Lo (Lam Suet) who was beaten up in the streets by triads, and woke up to find his gun is missing. Afraid of disciplinary action, Lo desperately asks Mike for help recovering his gun before daybreak. While Mike and his team sweep the midnight haunts and usual suspects for leads, a gang war slowly breaks out on the streets over the murder of triad leader Bald Head's (Lo Hoi Pang) son. As the night unfolds, threads cross, events escalate, and the line between cop and crook blurs as all sides draw blood for the same reason: protecting their own.

The unprecedented commercial and critical success of To Be Number One (1991) started the wave of biopics of famous outlaws that swept Hong Kong Cinema in the 1990s. The hit film's creators (writer-producers Johnny Mak and Stephen Siu, director Poon Man Kit) and star (Ray Lui) reunited two years later for an even bigger biopic project, a two-part saga based on the life of legendary Shanghai crime lord Du Yuesheng. Also returning were the key supporting actors including Kent Cheng, Elvis Tsui, and Cecilia Yip, and the cast was further reinforced with popular actors Ken Tong, Michael Miu, Carina Lau, and Siqin Gaowa. The film garnered nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards (for Best Screenplay) and Golden Horse Awards (for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design). Set in the first half of 20th century, the story details how Lu Yuesheng (Ray Lui) rises to power in the underworld of Shanghai. He begins as a small-time crook, making huge profits out of opium trade, and eventually becomes the godfather ruling the notorious Green Gang, so powerful that even the big shots in the highest political office have to seek his alliance.

Chow Yun Fat returns in Prison On Fire II, the sequel to Ringo Lam's powerful drama, Prison On Fire! Seasoned inmate Mad Dog (Chow Yun Fat) is back for more prison angst and action, as a new head prison guard (Elvis Tsui Kam Kong) is determined to exert his authority over the prison inmates. Mad Dog desires a leave to go see his son, who's stuck in an orphanage, but the politics and intrigue of the prison take priority. The Hong Kong and Mainland prison factions are at odds, and look to be set for an eventual confrontation. Mad Dog simply wants to get out, but he gets stuck between the machinations of Hong Kong inmate Boss Bill (Tommy Wong) and the head Mainlander (Chan Chung Yung). Can he survive the prison's latest bout of political tension before it erupts into an all-out riot? Director Ringo Lam brings his trademark grim and gritty style to Prison On Fire II, but leaves room for the requisite male bonding and Chow Yun Fat's indelible charm. A worthy sequel to the classic original, Prison On Fire II is further proof of Chow Yun Fat's legendary acting prowess.

As if Hong Kong needed more collateral damage from Jackie Chan, along comes Police Story 2, the follow-up to the immensely successful Police Story! Jackie Chan returns as cop Chan Ka Kui, who's saddled with a trio of problematic plots that would bring even down the toughest guy. Some mad bombers are threatening Hong Kong, so Chan is put on the case to sniff out the bad guys. However, Chan simultaneously must contend with the creeps from the original Police Story, who've returned to annoy him with their smarmy attitudes. AND there's Chan's increasingly grumpy girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung, given a bigger role in this sequel), who's a little sick and tired of playing second-fiddle to drug dealers and mad bombers. Things reach a head in the explosive finale in an abandoned factory, where Chan Ka Kui must fend off three kung-fu fighting foes who are holding May hostage. More action, comedy, and heart-stopping stuntwork are handed to the audience in Police Story 2, a sequel which matches the original's award-winning action choreography with some award-winning stuff of its own! Highlights include a prop-filled fight sequence in a restaurant, and a playground tussle that's choreographed in classic Jackie Chan style. Police Story 2 may be more of the same, but with action like this, it's also more than enough!

Shin Hyun (Cho Seung Woo) is a psychopathic killer responsible for the brutal murder of six women whom he murdered one after another. After carrying the horrifying remains of his victims to the police station in a bag, he turns himself in and awaits his penalty. One year later, the corpses of two high school girls and a pregnant woman are discovered; they've been murdered in the same terrifying way as Shin Hyun's victims. At first, Kim Mi Yeon (Yeom Jung Ah) and Kang Tae Hyun (Ji Jin Hee), who have been assigned to solve the relevant case, assume that the killer is just a copy cat and do not bother investigating Shin Hyun. However, after several other women are killed in the same bestial manner, the two officers decide to visit Shin Hyun in his cell in order to find some links to the dreadful crimes, but the only response the psychopath gives them is a devilish grin...

Dragon Ma (Jackie Chan) returns in Project A II, the spectacular follow-up to the blockbuster Project A! Dragon Ma is assigned to a corrupt police precinct, and brings a squad of righteous officers with him to clean up the territory. But the influence of corrupt Superintendent Chun (Lin Wei) runs deep, and some of the pirates who threatened Ma in Project A are back looking for revenge. What does all this mean? It means numerous opportunities for chases, double-crosses, and the inevitable Jackie Chan fight sequences, which are presented with Chan's trademark flair and prop-filled panache! An all star cast, including Maggie Cheung, Carina Lau, Rosamund Kwan, Ray Lui, and Ricky Hui, are on hand to back up Jackie Chan, but it's Chan who holds center stage with his patented comic charm and death-defying stunts. Creative stuntwork and clever direction make Project A II a faster, tougher, and more creative film than Project A, and this is even without the presence of Sammo Hung or Yuen Biao! For old-time Jackie Chan cinema magic, Project A II is a hard film to beat!

Before becoming Hong Kong's number one auteur, Johnnie To directed Eighth Happiness, a raucous Lunar New Year Comedy starring the one-and-only Chow Yun Fat! Chow stars as one of three oddball brothers looking for love but unfortunately, their out-there personalities get in the way! Eldest brother Raymond Wong Bak Ming runs a cooking show for women, and ends up tangling with a Chinese opera singer (Fung Bo Bo) who makes a guest appearance on his show. His youngest brother Jacky Cheung is a shy cartoonist who falls in love with a sweet girl (Fennie Yuen), but to obtain her love, he must surpass a manly rival (Michael Chow), as well as interference from his own two brothers. But the big story here is Chow Yun Fat, who turns in a surprising comic performance as a renowned player - whose mode of operation is to act gay in order to attract women! One of his targets is a beautiful but insane department store shopgirl played by Cherie Chung, who steals almost all her scenes. But it's not until Chow meets feisty Carol "Dodo" Cheng that the man truly meets his match. The stories and relationships between the three couples intertwine hilariously, leading to an onstage spoof of Princess Chang Ping, featuring Chow Yun Fat dressed up in drag! A monster hit during its initial release, Eighth Happiness moves fast and furiously, and features enough off-the-wall performances, hilarious situations, surprising jokes (look out for Chow Yun Fat as "Mark Gor" from A Better Tomorrow) and sheer comic energy to entertain just about anyone!

The Brotherhood predicts the end of the world, and doubters to their claims are being exterminated in mysterious and even bizarre ways - and it looks like Dr. Ken may be next on their list. Dr. Ken is not a believer in the mystical or the spiritual, but he may have to change his thinking: not only could he hold the key to the Brotherhood of Technology's threatened end of the world, but his deceased girlfriend (gorgeous Michelle Reis) starts to reappear at unpredictable times. Can Dr. Ken crack the code and somehow reunite with his true love? Co-starring Anthony Wong as Dr. Ken's cop friend, Armageddon delivers tragic romance, hi-tech thrills, and intriguing supernatural suspense.

Inthira Charoenpura (Nang Nak, A Fighter's Blues) stars in the haunting Thai horror film The Unborn! Porawee (Inthira Charoenpura) is a pathetic drug pusher/user who suffers an attempt on her life by her vicious drug supplier. But Porawee's nightmare begins after her survival. Something happened to her in the state between life and death, and now visions of drowning and madness plague her waking days. She's also ten weeks pregnant, and begins seeing a ghostly long-haired girl creeping towards her. What does this ghost want, and can Porawee discover it before her sanity - or life - is taken from her? Director Bhandit Thongdee covers the same territory as the Asian horror hits The Ring and The Eye for this harrowing and suspense-filled horror entry. Featuring a haunting starring performance from Inthira Charoenpura, The Unborn is a tense and nightmare-inducing mixture of terrifying images and quiet, lurking horror.

Andy Lau turns in a powerful performance in Days of Tomorrow, an affecting 1993 romantic drama. Yan (Hilary Tsui) is a young woman who becomes embroiled in story from the past when she tries out for a job on the remake of a classic film called Days of Tomorrow. The original film starred matinee idol Fong Tak Shing (Andy Lau), who was also the father Yan never met. Yan meets Nancy (Carrie Ng), the director of the original film, and from their chance meeting unfolds the tale of Fong Tak Shing's affairs with both Nancy and starlet Ling (Jay Lau Kam Ling) - and possibly some revelations about Yan's true parents. Lau Yu Ming directed this heartbreaking melodrama, which shifts between past and present to tell its years-spanning tale of a girl in search of her parents.
